Florida Real Estate License Checklist-step by step what you need to do to become a real estate professional
To get a real estate license in florida is pretty simple and can be a pretty straightforward process. I made a checklist with all of the information and links you will need to start your real estate career! I live in Tarpon Springs, FL, and have customized this site for this area, but you can get the info you need for anywhere in Florida. Please enjoyt!
1. Decide if you are qualified for real estate licensure: To be qualified you
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must not have any adverse criminal records showing moral turpetude.
Must be a resident of Florida or of another state with reciprocal rights.
2. Look for a real estate school that has what you need. Some schools suggest that you apply for the license with the DBPR first then start studying(DBPR will/will not approve your application after completing the course will send you a document allowing you to test). I recommend that you find a school that you are comfortable with first. I really believe in realestateexpress (there's a link at the top) because it is not only the cheapest school I found, but you can do it online and at your own pace.
3. After you find your school, apply and start taking the courses. You can find more information on schools and applying under the helpful links to the right. You can also complete the Sales Associate Package and send it in. (Before you send in the application, you have to complete the fingerprinting).
3. Complete the prescribed 63 hour course and take course exam with at least a 70% score.
4. Here is when you complete the Florida Real Estate Sales Associate Package. There is a link to this download (PDF) to the right under helpful links. Please note, that if you have had any criminal problems in the past you have to get the documents that say you have completed it and submit it with your application. Also, if you have any child support or other judgements, you have to make sure that you are in compliance or they may deny your application. Then send in the documents with $105.00 for the application and await the reply from DBPR.
5. Schedule your fingerprinting exam through Pearson Vue (Link to the right). The cost is about $58.00. You have to register with Pearson Vue through their website to set up the appointment and they have appointments all the time and all over Tampa Bay. It's very quick to do, also. If you wait until later to do this, DBPR will hold up your application until you do this anyway.
6. After you receive the notice from the DBPR in regards to your real estate application, you can schedule the state licensing exam. The cost is about $30 and you can make that appointment through the Promissor Testing link to the right under helpful links. Good Luck with the exam! They will score it when you finish and you can start working for a broker right away. Congratulations!
